Mission

Created in 1984, the Fondation des Ressources Alternatives Salaberry (FRAS) is a registered charitable organization (no.: 10183 5650 RR0001) for people with intellectual disabilities and pervasive developmental disorders.

As its name suggests, the Fondation des Ressources Alternatives Salaberry provides alternatives to existing health and social services resources. It carries the name Salaberry in honour of Charles-Michel d'Irumberry de Salaberry, officer and French Canadian hero of the Battle of Châteauguay.
The FRAS aims to provide assistance through financial support to ensure that people with intellectual disabilities and pervasive developmental disorders can fulfill their potential and play active roles in society. The FRAS pledges to:

  • Provide financial and material support to individuals and their families;

  • Support contributing and collaborating organizations;

  • Raise rights awareness through educational campaigns and training activities;

  • Organize fundraising events in support of its activities.

  • The head office of the FRAS is located in Châteauguay, and activities are held across the territories of the Du Suroît, Jardins-Roussillon, Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Haut-Saint-Laurent CSSS.

    Collaboration

    The FRAS works in close collaboration with Les Services de Réadaptation du Sud-Ouest et du Renfort (SRSOR).

    Financial structure

    The FRAS rests on a sound financial structure. In fact, 100% of each donation fosters the social integration of people with intellectual disabilities and pervasive developmental disorders and supports their families.
